On May 6, 2017, we will be holding our 18th annual awards night at the Malden Irish American Club.   All nominations will be presented to the awards committee for review.  The recipients will be notified well in advance of the awards night.  This is an amazing night to honor police officers for outstanding police work.  If you have any questions please contact VP Upton  Award recipients and a guest will be guests of the association.  Additional tickets are available at a cost of $40.00 per ticket.  The night consists of a performance of the Goulding School of Irish Dance, I.A.P.O.A Pipes and Drums.  The deadline has passed for nominations.  Thank you to all of those who nominated officers.  The next step will be for the awards committee to meet and vote on awards.  We are still looking for ads for our ad book.  Ads cost from $50-$200.  The ad books help defray the cost of the event. If you know any business, politician please contact them and ask for their support.  


The April meeting will be held on April 6, 2017 at Casey's Tavern 173 Broadway in Somerville.  The meeting will start at 7:00 pm.  Come on by for some free appitizers and a cash bar.  We are always looking for new members to join, bring them along. Merchandise will also be available for purchase, and as always credit cards are accepted.


New England C.O.P.S. will be holding a fundraiser on April 12, 2017.  The fundraiser will feature Jim Plunkett.  Jim puts on a great show and knows how to keep the crowd entertained.  This is for an amazing cause.  If you are not familar with New England C.O.P.S. check out thier web page, we have a link on our home page, so just click on it.  Tickets are $25.00.  The event will be held at The Elks Lodge of Boston which is located at 1 Morrell Street in West Roxbury.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets, contact Dave McClean at 781-850-6906.

The May meeting will be held on May 3, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Kings located at 52 Second Ave in Burlington.  Thanks to Dave McClean for putting this meeting togeather.  Come on down for some free appitizers and a cash bar.  Merchandise will be available for purchase. 

The Irish American Police Officers Association is pleased to announce an upcoming benefit concert by our friend and member Cambridge Police Lieutenant Pauline Wells.  The event will take place on Thursday, May 11th  at the Burren in Davis Square in Somerville at 6:30 p.m. The proceeds will benefit the New England Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS).

The talented vocalist Pauline Wells is teaming with friends DEVRI Boston in a special benefit to support the New England Chapter of C.O.P.S., a nationwide non-profit that provides essential services to the families and survivors of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. May is National Police Memorial month and as a veteran Cambridge Police Lieutenant, this issue is close to Pauline.  Over 120 law enforcement officers were killed in 2016 and this single performance will take place at the historic Somerville Music venue, "The "Burren." In Davis Square.

Hard to believe that 2016 is coming to an end. We hope that everyone had a good year and 2017 will be even better  This is a reminder that memberships are up for renewal for 2017.  Cost is $20.00 to renew.  You can renew right on line.  We are trying to keep our email data base up to date to do more electronically with notices.  If you would like to receive text messages from the IAPOA, please update your information on the site.  You will need to log into the members area and update your information.  If you do not have access, please apply on line to gain access.  We understand that email addresses and phone numbers change, please keep us up to date. 

 It is with deep regret to inform the members of the IAPOA of the passing of retired Detective Chuck Carroll of the Woburn Police Department.  Chuck was a member of the IAPOA since 1999.  Chuck served on the executive board, and was a member of the IAPOA Pipes and Drums.  Chuck will be dearly missed.  Please keep Chuck and his family in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.  The arrangements have been finalized, and an email with the details was sent to all members.

The I.A.P.O.A. Pipes and Drums can be hired for parades, corporate events, weddings, funerals, etc.

We have availabe a solo piper, mini band or full band.
