The Irish American Police Officers Association (IAPOA) is pleased to announce that it was awarded a $5,000 check from Walmart at the State House yesterday.
The ceremony was held at the Great Hall on June 9. During the event, which is part of Walmart’s annual State House Day, Chris Buchanan Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations for Walmart, recognized IAPOA and presented President Robert Sweetland with a $5,000 check.
As a thank you for their generosity President Sweetland gave Buchanan and Walmart with a plaque of appreciation. Sweetland said that Walmart’s support allowed IAPOA to hold a succesful awards ceremony in May.
The ceremony is held every year to serve as a celebration of police officers who risk their lives every day to serve and protect communities throughout Massachusetts, as well as an opportunity to recognize officers with Massachusetts roots who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving communities elsewhere.
“It’s a great honor to be here today,” President Sweetland said. “Chris and Walmart made our awards ceremony the best it’s been in 18 years. Without Walmart, without their generous contributions and all the people who made donations, that night wouldn’t have been possible.”
